Uganda’s banking sector closed 2025 on its strongest footing since 2021.
The UBA Banking Sector Performance Report 2021–2025 reveals a sector that has grown, improved, and remained resilient. Total assets reached Shs 61.7 trillion, net profits grew at 13.6% per annum to Shs 2.17 trillion, and the Non-Performing Loan (NPL) ratio fell sharply from 7.0% in 2024 to 3.4% in 2025 — with capital buffers remaining more than double the regulatory minimum.
