The Annual Bankers’ Conference (ABC) is a signature industry event that brings together regulators, practitioners and various industry experts from domestic, regional, international and national spheres involved in delivering financial/banking services, to discuss issues, trends, drivers and dynamics that are increasingly shaping sustainability strategies in banking, finance and the overall development ecosystem.

Background Information

The annual event is organized and co-hosted by the Uganda Bankers’ Association (UBA) and the Central Bank of Uganda with support from a range of partners.

First hosted in 2017, the Annual Bankers Conference has remained a key initiative in the UBA Annual Calendar that provides good opportunities for networking & building partnerships, promotes financial sector growth & economic development by taking stock & gaining insights from global, regional and domestic trends in the banking and financial sector and continuously supporting innovations within the Ugandan Banking and Financial Services sector.

The previous three conferences focused on these relevant thematic areas:

  1. ABC 2017: The Future of Banking.
  2. ABC 2018: Financial sector stability; Managing risk in a growing and fast changing environment.
  3. ABC 2019: De-risking financing & investment in agriculture to promote decent youth employment & inclusive growth.

In 2020, UBA was unable to hold the conference due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions therein.

Building on the successes of the previous conferences, we are happy to host the 4 th edition of the conference this year as a virtual event under the theme "Bend but don't break: How players in the financial services sector can thrive in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution."
