Patrick Michael Ayota is the Managing Director of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Uganda, having been appointed in August 2023. He provides strategic leadership to one of Uganda’s largest institutional investors, overseeing the Fund’s long-term vision, financial sustainability, operational excellence, and delivery of social security services to millions of members.
Prior to his appointment as Managing Director, Patrick served as Deputy Managing Director from 2017 and Chief Finance Officer from 2011, where he played a pivotal role in strengthening the Fund’s financial performance, governance, investment strategy, and institutional transformation.
In addition to his executive responsibilities, Patrick serves as Chairperson of the ISSA Liaison Office for East Africa, where he champions regional collaboration and knowledge sharing on social security policy and administration.
Patrick is a seasoned finance and business leader with extensive experience in financial management, investment management, corporate strategy, governance, and organizational transformation. His career spans senior leadership roles in Uganda and the United States, including serving as Finance Director at Barclays Bank Uganda, where he provided strategic financial leadership within the banking sector.
Recognized for his results-oriented leadership, Patrick has successfully led complex strategic initiatives that have enhanced institutional performance, strengthened governance frameworks, and created long-term value for stakeholders.
He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of South Carolina, USA, and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Liberty University, Virginia, USA. Patrick draws inspiration from Nelson Mandela, whose leadership philosophy continues to shape his own
approach to service and stewardship:
