James Byaruhanga is the Managing Director for Roke Cloud, Roke Cloud is a private edge cloud platform in Uganda housed in the Raxio Data Centre and is designed to address the growing market needs from SME, Start Ups, Fintech and Innovation Sectors. Currently
providing Solutions on the market through Private Cloud Services and Cybersecurity.
James is a Director in Roke Investment International and a former Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Operations Officer and Chief Technical Officer at Roke Telkom James was previously the General Manager for Raxio Data centre and was at the fore front of Building, Operating and Maintaining the 1st Tier III Carrier Neutral Data Centre in Uganda. James led the entire team, was part of the team that built the business strategy, products and solutions in the data centre.
With Over 24 years of experience in ISP, Cloud, Data Centre and Telco as Network & Systems Administrator, Service & Infrastructure Support, Sales, Marketing, Product Development and Executive Management. James has been very active in the Africa Telecom Sector with a passion to build the African internet ecosystem step by step.
James has previously worked in Africa Online Uganda and Ghana, MTN Uganda and MTN Group in South Africa (Consultant), Roke Telkom in Zambia and DRC in different capacities, James has also held several consulting roles in Africa for different companies including Seacom and BCS Also has business interests in other sectors of the economy outside of Telecoms for example Hospitality, Culture, Entertainment, Energy and Farming.
James is a director and founding partner in several companies to mention but a few Houses of DJs, House of Digital in the Entertainment and Digital Marketing Sector, Shisa Nyama Village, Happy Pigs Farm, Bakiga Nation, Charge Ko Technologies, Tasha’s Deli and Kulture Klub
James is a board member on the ICT association of Uganda, ISP association of Uganda, Black Pirates Rugby Club as a Vice Chairman and closely involved in the Grace Villa Family, it is a home for girls in Kabale. James has a passion for Tourism and Large-Scale Farming/Value Addition and is working towards a twilight career in these sectors in the next few years.
