A short code is a number to which an SMS or text message can be sent using a method called Keyword. A keyword is the first “word” that is sent in a text message, for example “Loans” or “Savings”

Uganda Bankers has implemented a Short Code feature to help people access financial literacy information on phones.

Steps

  1. On your phone, go to messages
  2. Type a keyword eg “Loans”, “Savings”, “bankproducts”, “consumerrights”, “assetfinancing”, “fraud”
  3. Send it to 6969
  4. A reply will be sent back to your phone.
